Brian is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia + New Zealand, CPA Australia, and The Tax Institute, and an Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia). He also holds a Diploma in Financial Services.
Brian specialises in corporate business strategy, taxation and asset protection, and has a background in commerce having held senior management positions in commerce, IT and the not-for-profit sectors.
On leaving the commercial field, Brian formed a professional accounting practice which grew rapidly to ten partners and 70 staff over a period of nine years. In 1984 the practice affiliated with Bird Cameron, the largest second tier accounting firm in Australia.
Seeing the need for the delivery of large firm expertise in a ‘hands on’ way to the SME sector McSweeney CA was formed in early 2000 to provide high level professional accounting, finance and consulting services to the SME market.
As a Principal of McSweeney CA, Brian has been able to focus on delivery of the specialist services which reflect the many skills developed through a broad commercial, legal and professional exposure to business. The firm has become a leader in providing services focussed on the client and the delivery of cutting edge, and consistent best practice services in all areas of business and financial management.
He enjoys working with clients in an advisory and mentoring role to assist them to achieve their financial goals and independence through wealth management based on ethical investment and best business practices.
Over the last ten years he has held, and continues to hold, directorships and chairing roles in commerce and the not-for-profit sector operating in the fields of education, insurance and finance. These roles have added to the broad and current perspective Brian brings to the professional practice, particularly in providing the ability to mentor clients in a collaborative and team spirit.
